Scott Taylor wins Right Trailers Outlaw Street Series Wally at Brainerd
Scott Taylor captured the Right Trailers Outlaw Street Series Wally at the NHRA Brainerd Nationals with a strong starting-line performance and a narrow victory over Shawn Ellington. Taylor was nearly perfect when the Tree flashed, leaving with a .004 reaction time and gaining an immediate .033-second advantage over Ellington’s solid .037 light.
Ellington began closing the gap almost immediately. His .943-second 60-foot time was slightly quicker than Taylor’s .951, and the two high-powered machines remained locked together as they charged down Brainerd International Raceway.
Taylor maintained a narrow performance advantage through the middle of the run. He reached 330 feet in 2.492 seconds against Ellington’s 2.499 and crossed the eighth-mile mark in 3.709 seconds at 202.82 mph. Ellington followed in 3.717 seconds at 203.46 mph.
Taylor’s exceptional reaction time ultimately provided the difference. He reached the finish line first by .0419-second to secure the win and the Right Trailers Outlaw Street title.
The final capped a weekend of unpredictable, high-horsepower competition and demonstrated exactly what the category brings to an NHRA national event: street-car attitude, more than 200 mph of speed and races that can be won or lost in the first few thousandths of a second.
